CM Punjab, FM strongly condemn campaign against national institutions

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi called on Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Friday. The two leaders strongly condemned PDM’s vicious campaign maligning the national institutions.

They vowed that every conspiracy against the institutions would be resolutely opposed and their dignity would be safeguarded.

Both leaders also discussed issues of mutual interest, political situation and matters of South Punjab Secretariat in the meeting held at the Chief Minister’s House.

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that Pakistan’s institutions are widely respected and targeting them with an agenda is very unfortunate. Elements trying to spread chaos are pursuing the enemy’s agenda, he added.

He said that the South Punjab Secretariat has been given administrative and financial autonomy and Secretaries of various departments in the secretariat are providing services to the people. Funds allocated for the development and prosperity of South Punjab will not be used for any other purpose, he assured.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the government will continue to stand by its national institutions, those who pass statements against them are not well-wishers of the country.

He also said that the establishment of the South Punjab Secretariat is a major step taken by the PTI government. In the past, the people of South Punjab were deceived with empty promises.

The Foreign Minister said that former rulers used South Punjab’s funds in their own constituencies. The people of South Punjab vehemently rejected those who cheated them and gave PTI a sizable mandate in the general elections. We will come good on the confidence shown by the people, he added.
