Govt decides to allow opposition to hold rallies across country
The government will issue No Objection Certificates (NOC) to the opposition for holding rallies.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government on Monday decided to allow the opposition to hold anti-government rallies across the country.
The decision to allow the 11-party opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to hold rallies across the country was taken in a meeting presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The government will issue No Objection Certificates (NOC) to the opposition for organizing rallies.
The opposition will be bound by coronavirus SOPs at meetings, while the district administration will ensure adherence to SOPs in opposition rallies. The government will not create hurdle in opposition rallies.
Earlier, PTI had decided to give tough time to PDM protests by launching campaign across the Sindh under the supervision of Governor Imran Ismail and PTI leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi.
Teams of members in National and provincial assemblies were also formed in this regard.
Previously, while announcing the new schedule of anti-govt rallies across the country, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal said that the first public rally of the PDM will be held in Gujranwala on October 16 and the second rally will be held in Karachi on October 18.
He said that third rally will be held in Quetta on October 25, while fourth public gathering will be held on November 22 in Peshawar and fifth rally will be held on November 30 in Multan.
The PML-N leader said that the alliance wants an independent judiciary in the country.
