ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the government will not be blackmailed by the opposition and will not fulfill the demand of NRO over FATF legislation.
According to details, a meeting of government and coalition senators was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan in which Law Minister Forough Naseem gave a briefing on legislation related to Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
The meeting discussed strategies for passing laws in the Senate.
According to sources, in his speech on the occasion, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the opposition was hostile to the country by blocking legislation in the interest of the country in the Senate.
Prime Minister Imran Khan took a clear and unequivocal stand and said that the government will not be blackmailed by the opposition.
“We have to get the FATF legislation passed by the joint sitting of the parliament in any case”, said PM.
Imran Khan said that the opposition was using the parliament for its own interests. The opposition wants us to stay in the FATF s gray list. They are also politicizing the laws of national interest, he added.
He directed the senators to take full part in the legislation of public interest and said that they would not be blackmailed by the opposition nor would they fulfill the demand of NRO.
He said that FATF was not a matter of PTI but of national interest. Those who obstruct the passage of the bill will be exposed at every forum.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister also gave necessary instructions to the senators regarding FATF.
The senators expressed full confidence in the government s decisions and the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The meeting agreed to make every effort for the passage of the FATF Bill.
