Punjab govt announces to close parks, recreational areas on Eidul Azha
The meeting also considered opening schools in two shifts
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab government on Friday while considering the proposal of smart lockdown on Eidul Azha announced to close parks and recreational areas on Eidul Azha.
A special meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Corona and Dengue Control chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar considered the proposal of smart lockdown on Eidul Azha.
It was decided in the meeting that the administrative office of the schools would be opened with the working of administrative staff but the students and teachers will not be allowed to visit schools.
The meeting decided that in line with the decision of the federal government, the school education department will issue complete guidelines before the opening of schools.
The meeting also considered working of schools in two shifts, while every shift would comprise 2.5 hours duration and necessary precautionary measures will be ensured in the schools.
The meeting decided that permission for the release of property, professional tax and excise permits will be allowed under an appointment management system.
Secretary Primary & Secondary Health told that a decrease in corona patients has been witnessed and the temporary lockdown has been made in six districts due to the enhanced number of corona patients. Provincial Ministers Dr Yasmin Rashid, Aslam Iqbal, IG Police, SMBR.
The chief secretary directed that action be initiated against the staff not doing dengue surveillance.
On Thursday, Minister for Federal Education Shafqat Mehmood announced phase-wise reopening of educational institutes across the country from September 15.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the minister said that the decision was taken during the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) meeting.
Educational institutes have been granted permission to open their administrative offices and faculty departments by ensuring strict implementation on standard operating procedures (SOPs), he asserted.
Shafqat Mehmood said that students faced immense difficulties during online classes in low internet coverage areas.
The decision of reopening the institutions will be reviewed in August’s first and third week in the wake of coronavirus situation in the country, he went on to say.
In March 2020, the Pakistani government had closed all the schools, colleges and universities due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the National Security Committee, presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad, Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said on Twitter.
