Shortage of petrol: PM Imran wants steps taken to provide relief to people

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken stern notice of the artificial shortage of petroleum products and ordered that steps be taken to provide relief to the people.

The prime minister presided over an important meeting on the shortage of petrol in which Federal Minister for Energy Omar Ayub and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Petroleum Nadeem Babar briefed him on the situation.

They also presented a report on measures taken to overcome the petrol crisis and fines imposed by the OGRA over artificial shortage of petroleum products.

PM Imran Khan was informed during the briefing that the companies had stockpiled petrol, adding that the teams have carried out several raids in this regard, after which petrol is now available in most parts of the country.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Petroleum Nadeem Babar said that action has been taken against several oil companies and petrol pumps.

On this occasion, Imran Khan took stern notice and clarified that artificial shortage of petrol is not acceptable in any case, adding that the public should be made aware of the facts along with providing relief.
