2831 medical personnel were tested for coronavirus, out of which 562 reported as infected

LAHORE (Dunya News) - According to a report of the Health Department, 20% of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff that got tested across Punjab were infected with coronavirus.

According to the report, the medical staff working on the front line against coronavirus including Doctors, nurses and paramedical staff across Punjab is especially susceptible to the virus because of increased exposure.

The report issued by the health department says that 20% of the tested medical personnel across the province have been infected with the virus. According to details, 2831 medical personnel were tested for coronavirus and 562 doctors and other medical staff tested positive.

So far 11 doctors and 2 nurses have died in the province due to the coronavirus pandemic. Health Secretary Barrister Nabil Awan said that the government has been taking steps to protect doctors and medical staff. Masks and protective clothing are being provided in coronavirus wards in this regard. All types of surgeries and operations without prior coronavirus testing are also banned in the province, he added.
