Economy is more important than human lives for federal Govt, says Bilawal

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that it is the responsibility of the federal government to save the economy as well as provide health facilities in order to save lives. The federal government cannot bow out from its responsibilities.

According to details, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah briefed PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto through video link and informed him about the steps taken to curb coronavirus. Hundreds of children were infected with the virus due to easing of the lockdown, he said.

On this occasion, Bilawal Bhutto said that the non serious attitude of the federal government towards the pandemic and the locust problem is very dangerous for the country. The Sindh government should continue its efforts to save the people from the virus and eradicate locusts, he added.

He expressed concern over the federal government’s stance to give preference to saving the economy instead of saving lives, saying that saving both things was the responsibility of the federal government , it cannot escape from it.

Bilawal Bhutto said that despite the obstacles and confusion-inducing policy of the opponents, the steps taken by the Sindh government were commendable, while on the other hand federal government has failed to act in accordance with National Action Program and eradicate locusts.

He said locust attacks on crops could lead to a dangerous famine and if such a situation arises, it will be due to the criminal negligence of the federal government.
