PPP demands PMs arrest in sugar scandal
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has demanded arrest of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Asad Umar, Abdul Razak Dawood and Usman Buzdar in the Sugar scandal.
The PPP has alleged that the forensic was done to make things worse. The NAB should prove its neutrality by arresting the robbers of Rs 300 billion.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Saeed Ghani said that those involved in the theft of Rs 300 billion in sugar scandal, must be investigated. The Prime Minister, while presiding over the cabinet, makes his own decisions and later retracts his remarks.
Saeed Ghani said that PTI has launched a campaign against PPP and PML-N. The question for the people in the government is why the commission formed by the Prime Minister was formed for? Faryal Talpur, Agha Siraj Durrani and Syed Khurshid Shah were arrested on which forensic reports? In this sugar scandal PTI’s members were involved that is why forensic was ordered, he added.
He alleged that the Prime Minister was responsible for the export of sugar. Only Punjab subsidized sugar while no other province gave subsidy on sugar. In a sector where there is no minister, prime minister is the minister. The Prime Minister, as the Minister of Commerce, read the summary and allowed the export of sugar, he added.
It was the commission s job to determine who was responsible for the rise in sugar prices. Sugar prices skyrocketed from November 2019 to February 2020. Why NAB did not arrest Asad Umar, Hafeez Sheikh, Razak Dawood and Prime Minister? The purpose of the NAB-Niazi Nexus is to suppress the opposition, he added.
