Business activities to continue uninterrupted across Sindh till May 31: Sindh Govt

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has announced that business activities in the province will continue uninterrupted till May 31. In a meeting with the Chief Minister, the traders have proposed to keep the shopping plazas and markets open till 8 pm.

According to details, a delegation of businessmen called on Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah and discussed the situation during lockdown. Traders suggested extending business hours. They also demanded permission for shopping plazas and markets to be opened till 8 pm and to allow dine-in facilities in restaurants.

The traders took a stand that they would support action against those who did not follow the SOPs. The industrialists also demanded that all industries and production units should be allowed to operate.

According to sources, the Sindh government has indicated that it could allow business on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at the suggestion of traders, while takeaways for restaurants and home delivery are being considered till 11 pm.

The Sindh Chief Minister assured that he would put forward the suggestions of the traders in the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) meeting and the final decision would be made in a meeting with the federal government.

After the meeting, Information Minister Sindh released a statement saying that Supreme Court had issued directives on May 18 that business activities should continue without any hurdle till May 31. Federal government would convene National coordination committee (NCC) meeting before May 31, to consult provinces regarding lockdown to make further decisions.
