An innocent civilian was seriously injured as a result of automatic weapon fire in Jajot village

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - The Indian Army has once again committed violation of international law by firing indiscriminately on innocent civilians on the Line of Control (LoC).

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Indian Army targeted civilian population in the Khuiratta sector and an innocent civilian was seriously injured as a result of automatic weapon fire in Jajot village. The injured citizen has been shifted to a nearby medical center.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan had summoned a senior Indian diplomat to the Foreign Office and registered protest against India’s ceasefire agreement violation. Foreign Office spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said that a civilian was injured because of Indian firing on Khuiratta sector on May 17. Muhammad Shafi, 37, was also injured in the firing by the Indian army. So far, India has violated the ceasefire 1,081 times this year.

Aisha Farooqui said that Indian forces are constantly targeting innocent civilians and these provocations are a threat to peace and security in the region. She said that India cannot divert the world s attention from occupied Kashmir by such actions and urged India to ensure compliance with UN Security Council resolutions.
