Provincial authorities provided addresses of suspected COVID-19 patients: Dr Zafar

Dr Zafar appealed people to offer prayers at home and continue to adopt all precautionary measures.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza said that situation regarding novel coronavirus pandemic likely to stabilize in the coming days.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Sunday, he said that the 80 percent positive cases in Pakistan are locally transmitted.

The special assistant said that the federal government and all provincial governments are working in cohesion regarding enhancement of testing capacities of laboratories about COVID-19.

Dr Zafar went on to say that during the last 24 hours, 6,218 tests were conducted, out of which 783 tests were declared positive, while 15 deaths have been reported.

He said: “We have provided the provincial authorities with over thousand addresses over suspicions that people living in there might have contracted the virus and the provincial governments will conduct tests of these people.”

Dr Zafar again appealed people to offer their prayers at homes, avoid visiting bazaars before Iftar time and continue to adopt all necessary precautionary measures.

The special assistant said eights hospitals in AJK, four in Balochistan, 11 in Islamabad, 100 hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 204 hospitals in Punjab, and 80 hospitals in Sindh have been provided personal protective equipment several times.

“The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is engaged in providing personal protective equipment to frontline medical and paramedical staff in various hospitals across the country,” he said and added all details regarding provision of equipment are available at the supply section of NDMA website.
