Number of coronavirus patients jump to 78 in Punjab: Dr Yasmeen

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid on Thursday said that number of coronavirus patients have jumped to 78 in Punjab.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore on Thursday, she said that test was conducted on 384 people of which 78 cases have been confirmed.

The minister said that the patients who have been tested positive of novel coronavirus have been separated, adding that 80 percent of people will recover with Panadol.

Dr Yasmeen said that currently four patients suffering from coronavirus are undergoing treatment at Mayo Hospital in Lahore and they are recovering, while two cases from Gujrat have also been reported.

The provincial minister said tests were being carried out on everyone in Dera Ghazi Khan and the government will keep informing as the numbers grew.

She said five serious cases in Dera Ghazi Khan have been shifted to the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital. They have all been isolated.

“A 90-bed isolation ward has been formed at Mayo Hospital for the treatment of the patients,” Dr Rashid said and added it has been cordoned off so that others aren’t allowed inside.

The minister went on to say that everything will be closed at 10pm, while the schools, colleges, universities and maddaras have already been closed.
