ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Following the outbreak of coronavirus that has killed over 200 people, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Friday imposed a ban on export of face masks and hand gloves.

According to a statement issued by the NDMA, the ban has been imposed as “a first precautionary measure” and to ensure availability of “sufficient basic first aid material”.

To prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus in the country, the NDMA instructed all relevant authorities to take the necessary measures and ensure “availability at all levels of health units of sufficient amounts of first aid material (face mask & gloves).”

Therefore, it is requested that export of N95 face mask and hand gloves (disposable) outside Pakistan from land, air and sea routes be banned forthwith and till further advice.

“These steps are taken as a first precautionary measure and to confirm the availability of sufficient basic first aid material in Pakistan.”

The death toll at the heart of the outbreak in Hubei, the Chinese province, had risen to 204 and, as of Thursday, there were 9,692 national cases of infection, Chinese health authorities said.
