'You will start war, we will end it': DG ISPR responds to India's threat
Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said Pakistan will end it if India started a war.
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor on Thursday while responding to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement said that if war is imposed, Pakistan Army will respond with "full force".
Talking to media in Rawalpindi on Thursday, ISPR DG Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that the Indian government and military leadership s statements are irresponsible, adding that Pakistan Army and people will surprise you. “India will start the war but Pakistan will end it,” he said.
Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that the Indian leadership talks of annihilating Pakistan in 7-10 days, but Pakistan armed forces would give India a surprise. “We have already asked India to start the war and we will end it,” he declared.
He asked when New Delhi couldn’t defeat 8 million innocent Kashmiris how could it defeat 207 million Pakistanis. “Pakistan has fought a war against terrorism for past two decades,” he said.
Regarding media, Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that media has played a vital role in Pakistan army s success, adding that media has won the hearts of the armed forces and heirs of those martyred in the war against terror.
He said: “The defence reporters have worked alongside the armed forces, adding that the defence reporters were his basic team.” “They strengthened the spirit of Pakistan’s armed forces with their responsible reporting,” he said.
The DG ISPR went on to say that it is an honour for him, if Indians are happy with his transfer from the ISPR.
He said the two countries came close to a war in 2019 but the Pakistan Army ensured peace through its preparedness and proper response. “Superior military strategy of (Pakistan Army chief) General Qamar Javed Bajwa saved South Asia from a big catastrophe,” he claimed.
Pakistan’s civil and military leadership wanted peace in the region and the Indian civil and military leaders should realise the importance of peace, he said. The COAS also played a very important role in ‘Madrassah reforms’ and brought the matter to the forefront, he also became an ambassador for religious tolerance and fraternity, Asif Ghafoor added.
Regarding his tenure as the DG ISPR, Major General Asif Ghafoor said that each and every word of a military spokesman always remains in adherence to a policy. He said that it’s an honour for him if India is pleased over his posting. “I am grateful to the media for its assistance, as well as to the people particularly the youth on social media,” he said.
