ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif on Monday expressed in Senate that if the US ignites a fire of war in Iran, it will also affect Pakistan, while the former has already wrecked Iraq and Syria for the past two decades.
He criticized the government and said that Prime Minister Imran promised to play the role of a mediator between Iran and the US. He added: “If this is peace between both countries then what would the state of war?” He expressed concern on the escalating tensions in the region and said that Pakistan will also be affected by the conflict between the US and Iran.
PML-N leader expressed that Pakistan has to take care of its relation with Arab countries. He said that the nation has a trusting relation with Iran for hundreds of years, adding that they have never deployed troops on the Pakistani border.
Khawaja Asif asserted that the foreign policy of the nation keeps alternating as it is something else in the morning and completely different by the evening. He emphasized on playing a positive role on the crucial issue. He asked for a detailed review of the foreign policy saying: “I am afraid that we cannot call Qasem Soleimani even a martyr”.
He continued saying that they the friendship with Iran, Turkey and Malaysia was endangered after ignoring the Kuala Lumpur Summit. “Saudi Arabia is a very respectable country and a close alliance but we should not sacrifice our one friendship for another,” he expressed, adding that the interests of the state should be considered as well.
On the other hand, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry demanded the National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser to form a special committee so that news and rumors with regards to someone’s personal life and dignity should not be promoted without proper verification.
PML-N responded to his proposal saying that a special committee should definitely be made but to amend behaviors in the House as people are responsible for giving reins to media.
Khawaja Asif expressed: “We comprise our respect, and use national institutions against each other”. He added that this tradition has been around for many years, and now these people are reaping their own seeds. “PEMRA without wasting any second takes action against an anchorperson if he speaks against another organization”, he added.
PML-N leader asserted that “we should take up the matter with our own self and not put it on media because all the things that happen in the House are an invitation for media itself”. “We should create a special committee to amend our behavior,” he emphasized.
Khawaja Asif said that Fawad Chaudhary has worked as an anchor in the past. He added that the record of his programs should be looked at as the tradition of humiliating each other is persisting since then. He expressed that politicians usually forget the respect of a person when accusing each other of ill things. “There will be such instances until we learn to respect each other in the House”, he added.
