UCP, Dunya, Akhuwat Foundations hold seminar under 'Kasur Muwahat' Programme

LAHORE( Dunya News) - Dunya Foundation, Akhuawat Foundation and University of Central Punjab (UCP) held seminar on Saturday under auspicious of Kasur Muwahat Program in order to ponder over ways to eradicate poverty and promote health and education in Pakistan.

The topic of seminar was "Lesson in Development of Community." The pilot project initiated under the program will cover 2000 families of eight villages of Kasur. Participants opined eradicating poverty is possible if one financially stable family takes responsibility of one poor family.

Ceremony was specially attended by Chairman Dunya Media Group Mian Amir Mehmood, provincial health minister Yasmin Rashid and Shoaib Sultan Khan.

Attendants presented true stories of people who utilized from Muwahat Program and changed not only their own lives but also lives of others. These people have been given title "Our Heroes" as their stories are motivational in real spirits.

Founder Dunya Foundation Mian Amir Mehmood said that Pakistanis give too much alms but they are not organized. Poverty can be eradicated from Pakistan only if one family takes financial charge of another one, a less stable one. This is indeed the real spirit of "Kasur Muwahat" Program.

During the ceremony, panel discussion was also conducted in which Dr Yasmin Rashid, Javed Malik, Dr Rasool Baksh Raees, and Agha Ali Jawad took part. Participants shed light on various experiences of their lives and gave their views to promote the program.

Head of Akhuwat foundation Amjad Saqib while talking at the ceremony said people are being loaned on easy conditions through this program. Furthermore, education and health facilities are also being offered to them.

Talking to the ceremony, Punjab health minister Yasmin Rashid expressed that deserved people are gaining free health facilities of worth Rs7,20,000 under health card program. Other participants including Salman Ghani, Ajmal Jami, Saad Rasool and Habib Akram opined that biggest challenge for Pakistan is poverty for which taking such steps are vital.

In concluding speech, Shoaib Sultan Khan appreciated role of Dunya Foundation and stated that deserved people direly need micro finance so that they could start businesses. On the other side, founder Dunya Foundation Mian Amir Mehmood during concluding speech hinted at non-existence of local bodies system and said we have government which rules but does not serve masses. Local bodies are crucial for community development, he said.
