Plea seeking withdrawal of terrorism provisions from judges detention case turned down
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The court on Wednesday has turned down a plea seeking exclusion of terrorism provisions from judges detention case against former president and high-level military official Pervez Musharraf.
During the hearing, Chief Justice Athar Minallah and justice Mian Gull dismissed the petition over absence of Pervez Musharraf’s lawyer Akhtar Shah.
It is to be mentioned here that Pervez Musharraf was declared proclaimed offender for skipping hearings while interim warrants were also against him by anti-terrorism court (ATC).
Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) judges case refers to cases pertaining to the high court and Supreme Court judges who took their oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order in 2007.
On November 3, 2007, Pervez Musharraf, who was president at that time, declared a state emergency and suspended the Constitution of Pakistan. All high court judges, including the SC justices, were asked to take oath under PCO.
Those who didn’t follow the directives were placed under effective house arrest.
