Told China that Pakistan wants to bring Kashmir issue in the Security Council: Qureshi

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Saturday said China has assured full support on the Kashmir issue. He said China has clarified that Kashmir is a disputed territory.

Addressing a press conference after his successful China visit, Qureshi said the current situation in Kashmir was discussed with Chinese leadership in detail. He said Chinese leadership was apprised of Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir issue.

Qureshi said I told Chinese leadership about the resolution of joint parliament and decisions made in National Security Committee meeting. He said the response of Chinese leadership was according to our expectations. He said China always stood by Pakistan in difficult times.

The minister said I told China that Pakistan wants to bring Kashmir issue in Security Council and China assured full support in this regard. He said China has directed its representative in New York to keep close liaison with Pakistani diplomats on the issue.

The Foreign Minister said China and Pakistan have also nominated their focal persons at Director General level.

He said India is violating human rights in Occupied Kashmir and reports about killing of innocent Kashmiris are surfacing. He said mobile phone and internet service is down in occupied valley and people of Kashmir have no communication with world.

He said protests were held in Occupied Kashmir and Ladakh despite a curfew today and Indian forces used force to suppress the protestors. He said Kashmiris are facing food scarcity in the region. Qureshi said Secretary General of UN’s statement is in line with our views on Kashmir.

He said a meeting of senior diplomats is underway in foreign office where former foreign secretaries have also been invited. He said the meeting would ponder over different aspects of the outstanding issue of Kashmir.
