Govt unveils Independence Day logo in solidarity with Kashmiris
Pakistan will celebrate August 14 in solidarity with people of Kashmir.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government of Pakistan on Saturday revealed a special logo for the Independence Day to be observed on 14th of August.
The logo has been created to express solidarity with the people of Occupied Kashmir after BJP-led Indian government ended special status of the valley with abrogation of Article 370.
The logo launched today is based on “Kashmir banega Pakistan” theme. Word Kashmir, written in red colour, represents sacrifices rendered during the freedom struggle. Pakistan’s flag represents Pakistanis’ resolve to go to any extent for Occupied Kashmir’s freedom while the red border around the logo highlights India’s illegal occupation and atrocities it is committing in the valley.
The government of Pakistan has decided to observe Independence Day on August 14 as Kashmir Solidarity Day and August 15 as Black Day to express solidarity with Kashmiris in their recent plight caused by the Indian government.
The national flag would be flown half-mast throughout the country on Thursday August 15, said a notification issued by the Ministry of Interior on Friday.
On Wednesday, following India’s decision to end special status for Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan’s NSC decided to downgrade diplomatic relations and suspend bilateral trade with India. PM Khan directed that all diplomatic channels be activated to "expose the brutal Indian racist regime, its design and human rights violations.
Infuriated by New Delhi’s moves, Islamabad has also expelled the Indian high commissioner and halted the little bilateral trade between the arch-rivals. The ministers have also halted cross-border transport services and the last trains and buses crossed the frontier on Saturday.
The last Friendship bus left New Delhi early Saturday carrying just two passengers for the trip to the Pakistani city of Lahore.
The last Thar Express train also left the Rajasthan city of Jodhpur early Saturday but had to wait more than 12 hours to get clearance to cross the border, officials said.
The train has run every Friday night since 2006 from Jodhpur to Karachi. It is one of two rail services to cross the frontier between the rival states. The Samjhauta Express was halted on Thursday by Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed.
"As long as I am railway minister, the Samjhauta Express and the Thar Express will not operate," he vowed to reporters on Saturday.
