Crackdown to escalate in next 15 days: Sheikh Rasheed

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad said on Saturday that he had asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to get rid of ‘rotten eggs’ but he did not act.

The minister addressed a press conference in Lahore, and stated that witnesses were also present against [former president] Asif Ali Zardari, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz in ‘serious crimes.’

“Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari cannot return to power,” he said, adding that Zardari and [his sibling] Faryal Talpur does have a dheel [relaxation]; however there are no chances of striking a deal with them.

“I had already told that a crackdown would be launched before the month of June,” he added, while stating that it would escalate in the next 15 days.

Regarding the current status of railways in the country, he said he would quit politics if the circular debt of the Railways is not reduced.

“I would keep raising my voice for the poor until my last breath,” he said, adding that there are no chances of presidential system [in the country].

Later, he expressed his gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for giving him a green signal over establishing two universities.

He suggested Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to ponder over how the will of [former premier] Benazir Bhutto was found from a purse of her maid.
