ISLAMABD (Dunya News) – Despite an announcement by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza to decrease the prices of medicines, the masses still await the implementation of government’s order.

The PTI government issued a notification to lower the prices of medicines but they are being sold at old prices in the market.

Dr Zafar Mirza in a press conference had announced to decrease the prices of medicines by 75 percent. However, no one in the government bothered to check the implementation of its order in the markets.

Prices of many medicines including high blood pressure and kid’s medicines were lowered but market rates show the order of government has not been implemented yet.

Earlier, promising zero tolerance for and strict action against any malpractices within the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) ,the PM’s Special Adviser for Health Services Dr. Zafar Mirza announced that the 500% plus increase made in the prices of some medicines will be brought down to 75% as a Ramazan gift.

This reduction, along with several other measures for drug pricing control, will collectively have a relief impact of Rs7 billion, he said.
