Summary The government decided to make National Electric Power Regulatory Authority more powerful.
According to sources, the government decided to empower NEPRA in connection with determining power tariffs. The further powers will be given to the body by amending the NEPRA act.After getting new powers, NEPRA will have the authority to issue Power Tariff Gazette notification. The Ministry of Water and Power recommended that the 2 percent increase in power tariff would be made after the amendment in NEPRA Act.The government increased power tariff by 2 percent monthly under the condition of the International Monetary Fund.
