LAHORE (Dunya News) – Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mehmood Qureshi responded to the statements of PM Imran Khan which stirred a debate on national political arena over his capabilities to handle cross border issues.
FM Qureshi while talking in Dunya News’ programme Nuqta e Nazar expressed that media created a hype over PM Imran’s statement but did not look at the wider angle he was talking about.
He said PM talked about cooperation to stop cross border terrorism in addition to telling them that we would not allow our soil to be used for any terrorism. Qureshi said PM expressed that our security chief will sit with his Iranian counterpart for a dialogue. What’s wrong in it, he questioned.
FM further said the sentences do not matter rather policies matter in International relations adding that misconception between Iran and Pakistan being created by miscreants.
Opposition demands explanation over PM Imran s statement in Iran

Responding to a question, Qureshi said Indian media created a hype by using PM Imran’s statement in a wrong way. What else you can expect from India, he added.
The opposition on Tuesday demanded an explanation in the National Assembly (NA) over Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement during his recent tour to Iran.
On the second day of his maiden Iran trip, PM Imran addressed a joint press conference with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani at the Saadabad Palace in Tehran following bilateral talks and acknowledged that Tehran had suffered terrorism from groups operating from within Pakistan.
Business matters with Iran after US sanctions:
While talking about the business and trade with Iran, Qureshi said Iran is currently under US sanctions and there are no banking channels available. It is difficult to get support from international donors for mega projects.
Iran Pakistan gas pipeline will provide good opportunities for the progress of region in future but US sanctions are hindering its progress. He said India has been given a waiver from US sanctions and we will see how to move forward after recent decision by Trump to remove all waivers regarding Iran sanctions.
PTI leader said we should not look back to our past rather we must progress for our future destinations adding that point scoring must be avoided.
Talking about recent criticism on PM Imran on Japan- Germany statement, he said it could be a slip of tongue but we should look the matter in broader context. PM Imran reminded that if enemies can progress and can be friends why can’t we, he said.
Responding to a question, he said there were chances of another attack like palwama as Indian elections are in progress and he has hinted about the threat earlier.
Talking about the recent shuffle in cabinet, he said PM has right to change his cabinet and that did not happen for the first time in history.
Japan tour:
Talking about his Japan tour FM qureshi asserted that no official from Pakistan visited Japan in last 7 year. He added that during his tour MoUs of 7.5 billion were signed. The amount would be invested in PIMS ICU up gradation in addition to Inland cargo x-ray system and counter terrorism.
Qureshi further said Japan is ready to relocate its industry from China to Pakistan and trio can get greater benefits from this process. He said many job opportunities would be created in Pakistan in this way.
Pakistan, Japan FMs agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation
Earlier, addressing a joint news conference along with his Japanese counterpart in Tokyo on Tuesday evening, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan and Japan have agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in various sectors including trade, investment, Information Technology, and agriculture.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed under which Japan will import technical human resource of young Pakistanis.
