Government is committed to provide affordable houses to poor people
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said that the mindset of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is different from the previous governments.
Addressing the launching ceremony of low cost housing finance policy in Islamabad on Monday, he said that the government is committed to provide affordable houses to poor people, adding that low cost housing is a component of PTI Government for poverty alleviation.
The prime minister said that steps being taken to uplift the underprivileged and destitute as the main focus of the policy is to decrease the poverty from country.
Imran Khan said that a huge population of Pakistan cannot afford its own house that is why the government is going to finance the cash starved people to build their own houses.
He said: “It is a beginning, which will not only provide roof to the downtrodden, but its multiplier effect will also give boost to 40 other industries and provide jobs to the youth.”
The premier also announced to bring an ambitious programme for shanty towns for which developers will be encouraged for construction of flats with all facilities.
“We have to stop spread of cities, which are engulfing cultivated land and creating climate issues,” he said and added Islamabad will be made model city with vertical buildings.
“Construction of high-rise buildings will be encouraged to protect green areas,” he added. “People living in Katchi Abadis will be given ownership rights with civic facilities.”
