LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar has Thursday rejected the proposal to hike metro bus fares from Rs20 to Rs60.
The chief minister maintained that the government does not want to put financial burden on the poor by surging the charges. He directed the officials to consider other feasible options to increase the resources.
The suggestion to increase fares had been under consideration for a long time, and the people as well as the opposition had reacted strongly against it. Usman Buzdar made this decision after analyzing all aspects.
The session, headed by the CM, also approved to give financial aid to the families of those contract employees who die during the course of employment.
It has been decided that Rs1.6 million will be given to families of scale 1-4 contract workers in case of death, Rs1.9 million to scale 5-10, Rs2.2 million to scale 11-15, Rs 2.5 million to scale 16-17, Rs3.4 million to scale 18-19, Rs4 million to scale 20 and upwards.
