Federal cabinet to examine 18-point agenda, National Tariff Policy

Prime Minister Imran Khan will preside over the meeting in Islamabad today.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Thursday is scheduled to preside over a meeting of the federal cabinet to discuss an 18-point agenda in Islamabad.

Importantly, a draft on the first-ever National Tariff Policy (NTP), approved by PM Imran Khan on Wednesday, will be presented in the meeting of the cabinet for its consideration and approval, said a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.

The NTP is aimed at ensuring transparency, predictability and institutionalising the entire tariff structure in the country.

The meeting will also approve the renewal of the Regular Public Transport (RPT) license of AirBlue, owned by former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Besides, the meeting will be briefed on the progress regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led federal government’s reform agenda.

The endorsement of the decisions taken by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) during its meeting on February 26, and appointments of the Pakistan Ordnance of Factories Board (POFB) member production coordination, Member Production Control (MPC) in heavy industries Taxila Board and member ministerial coordination in Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) board are also included in the agenda.

Moreover, the cabinet is likely to approve signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Pakistan and Lithuania.

Furthermore, appointment of directors of the National Banks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, and managing director of the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) are also included in the agenda.

Earlier, on February 28, the federal cabinet meeting had ratified decisions taken by the ECC and approved signing of Framework Arrangement amounting to $500 million with Republic of Korea.
