Miscreants hurled hand grenade in Ghas Mandi area and fled
Unknown miscreants hurled a hand grenade at a rummy club in Ghas Mandi area of Karachi, killing 18 people and injuring 38.The blast was so powerful that a deep fissure was occurred at the place. Police and rescue teams reached the spot after the blast and started relief activities. The injured were shifted to Civil and Jinnah hospitals where a state of emergency was declared.Early reports revealed that the injured are said to be in a critical condition and that more deaths are being feared. According to bomb disposal squad, the bomb did not seem to be a hand grenade and ball bearings were used in the bomb.Shortly after the incident, the police and rangers surrounded the area. IG Sindh Police Fayyaz Leghari said that the explosion was from an improvised explosive device. IG Sindh has formed an investigation committee led by DIG South Iqbal Mehmood.According to the bomb disposal squad, two kilograms of explosives were used in the bomb. Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat Ulebad and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah took notice of the of bomb attack and have sought a report on the matter from the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Karachi.
