No compromise to be made on accountability: PM Imran

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said that the democracy is not in danger in the country and the opposition only remembers democracy upon the arrests of its leaders.
According to Dunya News sources, PM Imran Khan presided over a parliamentary party meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in which matters pertaining to country’s political situation and other issues.
The meeting also reviewed the two-day visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salam, while the prime minister also took the parliamentary party in confidence over situation arising after Pulwama attack.
On the occasion, Finance Minister Asad Umer briefed the meeting about MoUs signed with the Saudi Arabia. The meeting was attended by the members of National Assembly and federal cabinet from PTI and allied parties.
Addressing the parliamentary party meeting, Imran Khan said that the Saudi Crown Prince’s visit remained successful, adding that Pakistan is successfully coming out of the economic crisis.
He said that no one would be allowed to create hurdles in the accountability process nor any compromise would be made.
Opposition remembers democracy upon the arrests of its leaders but there is no danger to the democracy, adding that the PTI government will bring a revolution in the lives of common people.
Elements involved in money laundering deserve no leniency: PM
Meanwhile, the prime minister while chairing a high-level meeting to review progress on efforts being made to curb money laundering in Islamabad said elements involved in money laundering are foes of the nation and deserve no leniency.
Imran Khan said that money laundering poses serious threat to the country and therefore it calls for drastic measures and directed all stakeholders to double their efforts in making crime more expensive and ensure that criminals do not go scot-free.
"Plunderers of national wealth have plunged the country into the quagmire of debt due to which Pakistan is facing serious economic challenges," the PM said.
Secretary Interior briefed the Prime Minister about the progress on steps taken so far to combat money laundering. He briefed the Prime Minister about the administrative and legislative steps being taken specifically with regards to money laundering.
