LHC rejects NAB's petition seeking change of bench for Shehbaz Sharif's bail plea
The LHC on Monday reserved judgment on the admissibility of hearing of the petition.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday rejected the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) petition which raised objection over the formation of the LHC’s bench that is expected to hear bail plea filed by the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif.
The LHC reserved judgment on the admissibility of hearing of the bail plea and ruled that the same bench will hear the petition.
The court s chief justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan heard the application while the NAB’s prosecutor asked the court to refer the bail petition to a bench headed by Justice Baqir Ali Najfi and argued that the existing bench could not hear it.
The prosecutor further said that a two-member bench headed by Justice Najfi had already rejected Shehbaz Sharif’s bail.
To this, the judge responded that it was not possible anymore.
“There are already many complaints against the NAB, now it would form the court’s bench according to its will!” the judge remarked.
