In-camera briefing on Sahiwal incident: Opposition expresses dissatisfaction on JIT report
The opposition also protested against the absence of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar
LAHORE (Dunya News) – For the first time in the history, Punjab Assembly held an in-camera session, and briefed the provincial assembly members on Sahiwal incident and the progress on the ongoing investigation by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to probe the incident.
During the proceedings, Additional Chief Secretary Home Punjab Fazeel Asghar briefed the provincial assembly members on Sahiwal incident, however, the opposition members strongly rejected the JIT’s report and the government’s stance on the matter and demanded the formation of a judicial commission to probe the matter transparently.
The opposition also protested against the absence of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar during the in-camera session.
Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz and other opposition members termed the JIT ‘wastage of time’.
Hamza Shehbaz while giving strong reaction said that the Punjab CM should have attended the session.
Moreover, Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leaders said that a first information report (FIR) should be lodged against CM Buzdar.
