Summary The IPPs are producing 40 percent less electricity due to the increasing circular debt.

In a statement issued by the Independent Power Plants (IPPs) Advisory Council, Pakistan Electric Power Supply Company (PEPCO) owes Rs 182 billion to the IPPs due to which the electricity shortfall has increased to 4,000 megawatts. They said that due to the increasing circular debt, the IPPs are producing 40 percent less electricity than their original capacity.The IPPs council also said that PEPCO owed Rs 122 billion to Kot Addu Power Supply Company (KAPCO) and HUBCO.
