LAHORE (Dunya News) – Merrymakers around the world on the Eve of December 31 have bidden a joyous farewell to the year 2018.
Pakistan marked the arrival of the New Year 2019 with zeal and spectacular display of fireworks across the country.
A high alert is placed in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) on the eve of New Year, and a ban has been imposed on one wheeling and display of weapons. All entrance and exit of Islamabad will be checked on New Year Night while all sensitive areas and markets will be under extra security.
The Bahria Town in Lahore organised a splendid show of fireworks. Families enjoyed food while youth were making merry with bike riding stunts and fireworks on different public places. The Mall road, Jail road, Liberty, Garhi Shahu, Ferozpur road and many other highways choked due to heavy influx of vehicles.
In Quetta, celebrators released hundreds of balloons into the sky to observe the New Year s joy.
In Karachi, the skyline was lit up with dazzling displays of fireworks as the clock struck midnight.
