PPP leaders accuse Shahzad Akbar of meeting JIT members
Nafeesa Shah says PM Imran sent Shahzad Akbar to meet JIT members
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Leaders of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) on Friday while accusing Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar of meeting the members of Joint Investigation Team (JIT), said that revenge in the name of accountability should be stopped.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi on Friday, Maula Bakhsh Chandio asked the government to tell how they have prior knowledge of the decision of court and JIT.
Chandio said that the government was only hurling accusations and not performing its duties, adding that the ministers only talk about chaos.
“The government should reveal if it has evidence,” he said and added those who were sending others to Adiala jail will also go there.
Speaking on the occasion, Nafeesa Shah said that Prime Minister Imran Khan sent Shahzad Akbar to meet JIT members and appealed Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar to take notice.
He asked where were the promises of PTI government it had made with the masses, adding that what changes those brought who raised the slogan of change in the lives of the masses.
On the other hand, Saeed Ghani said that no arrest of the PTI leader is going to be made, adding that the inquiries and arrests of the PPP leaders are being carried out.
He accused that NAB had no courage to take action in the matter of PM Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan.
Earlier, the banking court had extended the interim bail of former president and his sister Faryal Talpur in an ongoing money laundering case till January 7. Asif Zardfari accompanied by sister Faryal Talpur appeared before the court after conclusion of previous extension in interim bail today.
The PPP workers and senior party leaders, including Rehman Malik and Khursheed Shah had converged on court premises in solidarity with their duo leaders upon prospective arrest which has been the talk of the town for past couple of days. But, the reality went otherwise, and both PPP leaders have been granted extension in bail dispelling the most speculated arrests.
On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), through its MPA Khurram Sherzaman, had filed a disqualification petition with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against Asif Zardari for concealing his New York flat in nomination papers for the 2018 general elections.
In the plea PTI has adopted the stance that the former president did not declare his NY apartment in asset details submitted to ECP.
Concealing the assets comes under Article 62 (1) (f) of the constitution, the plea reads. The petitioner PTI has prayed to the commission to disqualify Zardari as he has not remained ‘Sadiq’ and ‘Ameen’.
