No gas loadshedding in winter: Ghulam Sarwar Khan
Higher increase in gas prices was made for elite the consumers
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Minister for Petroleum and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ghulam Sarwar Khan on Friday said that there won’t gas loadshedding in winter.
Addressing a presser in Islamabad on Friday, he hinted at renegotiating the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) agreement with Qatar adding that agreement signed by the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) was expensive and beyond mandate.
On the recent hike in gas prices, Sarwar said that a higher increase in gas prices was made for elite the consumers like those sitting in ‘Jati Umra’, adding that the losses of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited and Sui Southern Gas Pipeline Limited had increased exorbitantly and now they were given a target to reduce these losses.
The minieter further added that foundation stone of Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India Pipeline (TAPI) will be laid next year while work on the exploration of oil and gas under the ocean will be started soon.
