SP Tahir Khan Dawar's funeral prayers offered in Peshawar
The Afghan authorities have clarified that the corpse will only be given to Mohsin Dawar.
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The funeral prayer of martyred Superintendent Police (SP) Tahir Khan Dawar has been offered in Hayatabad area of Peshawar. People turned out in large numbers to attend the funeral prayer of the slain police officer.
The body of martyred Superintendent of Police (SP) Tahir Dawar has been handed over to Pakistani officials.
The body was received at the Torkham border from Afghan officials by Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi, Shaukat Yousafzai, Mohsin Dawar, Deupty Commissioner Khyber and other security officials.
Earlier, Afghan authorities have refused to hand over body of slain SP Tahir Dawar to their Pakistani counterparts.
According to sources, the Afghan authorities had clarified that the corpse would only be handed over to member of National Assembly (MNA) Mohsin Dawar as State Minister Shehryar Afridi and Shaukat Yousafzai arrived at the Torkham Border.
PM orders probe
Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed condolences on the killing of SP Tahir and directed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to coordinate with Islamabad police in holding an inquiry immediately.
A report of the matter has also been sought from Minister of State for Interior Shahryar Afridi.
Afridi vows to bring Tahir Dawar’s killers to justice
Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi had vowed to bring killers of Superintendent of Police (SP) Tahir Khan Dawar to justice.
During Senate session, he revealed that Dawar was kidnapped from Islamabad and shifted to Afghanistan via Mianwali and Bannu. An FIR was registered in Ramna Police Station Islamabad on November 28 regarding disappearance of the martyred police officer, he told.
He said the previous government had installed about 1,800 cameras in the federal capital under safe city project, but unfortunately, over 600 of them are non-functional.
He said not a single camera is able to capture recognizable pictures of vehicles and dubious people. He urged the House to initiate an inquiry into the safe city project.
Afghanistan Foreign Ministry s confirmation
Afghanistan Foreign Ministry on Wednesday confirmed that SP Tahir Dawar was killed in Nangarhar province, stated Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Faisal.
Faisal added that the corpse of the police official was first seen by people of Afghanistan’s district Dur Baba. “Afghanistan Foreign Ministry informed Pakistan’s embassy about the recovery of the dead body of Tahir Dawar.
On October 26, the ill-fated police official had gone missing from Ramna neighborhood of the federal capital, Islamabad. A high-level committee was constituted that conducted raids at scattered places in the country. The committee also held talks with members of Jirga (traditional assembly of tribal leaders).
