Hamza Shahbaz became furious over the issue of stopping him outside the Assembly hall.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday exchanged harsh words with security guard over the issue of stopping him outside the Assembly hall.

According to details, Hamza Shahbaz became furious when the security guard did not allow the staff members came with him, to enter the Punjab Assembly.

The opposition leader argued that how can you prevent entry of Senate candidates on election day? Are you stopping members of staff on the directives of Assembly speaker, Hamza Shahbaz inquired.

Speaker Punjab Assembly Pervaiz Elahi responded to the Hamza Shahbaz Sharif question saying that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is supervising all the issues on the election day (today) therefore no one is allowed to enter the assembly except members of assembly with their membership card.

It is pertinent here to mention that by-election for two seats of Senate from Punjab, including one general and one reserved seat for women, were held on Thursday.

The seats had fallen vacant due to de-notification of Haroon Khan and Saadia Abbasi as senators in light of a Supreme Court verdict.

The polling was being held at the Punjab Assembly building in Lahore and continued until 4pm without any break.

PTI had fielded Waleed Iqbal and Seemi Aizdi while PML-N’s Saud Majeed and Saira Afzal Tarar were contesting for the two seats. The ruling party had claimed to garner the support of 194 members while PML-N was expected to receive 174 votes.
