LHC grants bail to Mujahid Kamran, four others in illegal recruitment case

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday approved bail pleas of former vice-chancellor of University of The Punjab and four others in case pertaining to illegal recruitments.

As per details garnered, a two-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqir Najfi resumed hearing of the case here in Lahore today.

As the hearing went underway, the court reprimanded officials of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over handcuffing faculty members. “How did NAB muster up courage to handcuff teachers”, inquired Justice Najfi. To this, NAB prosecutor sought unconditional apology.

In its written reply, NAB stated that as many as 550 illegal recruitments had been made during the tenure of ex-VC Mujhahid Kamran. “The accused by-passed the selection committee and transgressed their jurisdictions”, the NAB prosecutor told the court.

Later, the court approved bail pleas of Mujahid Kamran and four others against surety bonds of Rs5 lacs apiece whereas hearing was adjourned.
