PM Imran kicks off 'Clean and Green Pakistan' drive

Tree plantation drive would help in dealing with drought condition, said PM.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has initiated the  Clean and Green Pakistan  campaign by planting a sapling and sweeping with broom at a private girls college in Islamabad today (Saturday).



Addressing the ceremony, PM Imran said that Pakistan stands at seventh among countries affected by global warming. Tree plantation drive would help in dealing with drought condition, he added.

Khan said that people live healthy life in Europe as there is no pollution. 

He stated that the PTI government planted one billion trees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and there is international recognition of this drive. He said that the government now targets to plant ten billion trees across the country.

He hoped that under the cleanliness drive, sewerage and sanitation system will be improved not only in cities but also the slums and the villages.

The premier also lauded the role of schoolchildren for successful cancer hospital campaign.



Prime Minister also interacted with the students and inquired them about the issues faced by the country due to global warming.

On the occasion, Adviser to Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam said Clean and Green movement reflects new Pakistan.

PM Imran Khan is leading this campaign and there is strong political commitment behind the drive, he continued.
