Salman Shehbaz appears before NAB in assets inquiry

A three-member NAB investigation team grilled Salman Shehbaz for 1.5 hours.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has handed over a questionnaire to Salman Shehbaz, son of former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif, as part of its investigation into assets beyond known sources of income.

Salman Shehbaz on Wednesday arrived at the anti-graft watchdog’s Lahore office where he was interrogated for 1.5 hours by a three-member investigation team.

NAB had issued summons for Salman Shehbaz on October 8 after noticing discrepancies in his bank accounts. His father Shehbaz Sharif is already under investigation over alleged corruption in Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing scheme.

According to sources, Salman is part of the board of directors that oversees the operations of more than 29 companies of the Sharif family. He represents Shehbaz Sharif in family businesses.

Salman Shehbaz is also one of the directors of Chiniot Power Company, which remains shut despite receiving loans amouting to seven billion rupees from various banks.

The Sharif family has businesses ranging from mills, poultry and feeders to livestock.
