LAHORE (Dunya News) – The water level in River Sutlej has surged causing a low level flood in the River after India has spilled more water into River Sutlej.

According to details provided by Flood Forecasting Division, the water flow at Ganda Singh Head Works reached 33,000 cusecs triggering low level flood in Sutlej.

India has spilled 66,000 cusec water into Pakistan s territory putting River Sutlej s adjoining villages at risk of flood, which include Chanda Singh Wala, Dhoop Sari, Bhikhiwand, Basti Kalunjar among many others.

Given the alarming situation the district administration has issued flood alert to all villages and set up a relief camp near Talwar Post to help those likely to be affected by the flood if the case be.

The relief camp includes rescue personnel in addition to paramedical staff as well as staff from Canal Department.
