CJP links construction of Kalabagh dam with national consensus
CJP has clarified not to tolerate water theft at any cost.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar has on Saturday linked construction of long-delayed Kalabagh Dam with national unity and harmony.
Addressing a ceremony here in Lahore today, CJP added the Kalabagh dam guarantees the survival and security of the Pakistan.
Sensing immense shortage of water in the days to come, CJP reiterated that if a census [on Kalabagh Dam] is reached then it would also be constructed. He termed construction of dams as only viable solution to rising water crisis.
Earlier today, CJP has clarified not to tolerate water theft at any cost.
Hearing a case pertaining to mineral water companies, CJP announced to take action against those stopping from the construction of the dams under Article 6.
We only want to serve the nation, he added.
The top judge also lauded the special report regarding wastage of water that was aired on Dunya News and said that it has unveiled the reality with facts.
I was surprised after watching that how water is being wasted, he continued.
