Ceremonies in connection with Defence Day being held across country
Nation is celebrating Defence and Martyr Day.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Different ceremonies to mark 53rd Defence Day are underway across the country to pay homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Pakistan.
Ceremony at Fortress Stadium
Personnel of Pakistan armed forces organised a ceremony at Fortress Stadium in Lahore. The event kicked off with a march past by Pakistan Army and Rangers.
Pakistan Air Force did a fly past with its JF Thunder F-17 and fighter planes. Thousands of participants cheered during the display. Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar and Chief Minister Usman Buzdar were invited as chief guests in the event.
Meanwhile, patriotic songs were also played to amuse the people.
Special event at Navy headquarters
Pakistan Navy organized a special ceremony at Naval Headquarters in Islamabad on Thursday morning.
Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Kaleem Shaukat was the chief guest while floral wreath also leaid at the martyrs’ monument.
On the occasion, the message of the Naval Chief was also read out in which he highlighted the role played by Pakistan Navy in the war of 1965.
Martyrs’ pictures in twin cities
Meanwhile, The pictures, banners and flexes of martyrs have been placed on roads and main crossings in Islamabad and Rawalpindi to pay tribute to their sacrifice.
People including children, women and elders felt patriotic while watching these national heroes and said that they are real assets of the motherland.
Change of guard ceremonies at Quaid, Iqbal s mausoleums
Change of guard ceremony was held at the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi on the occasion of 53rd anniversary of the 1965 war.
A contingent of the Pakistan Navy, clad in ceremonial dresses, presented the guard of honour and assumed the ceremonial guard duties at the mausoleum.
On the other hand, a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented guard of honour at Allama Iqbal’s mausoleum in Lahore.
Garrison commander Major Genral Muhammad Aamir laid wreath at the grave penned down his thoughts in the guest book.
Ceremony in Tirah Valley
Another event was held in Tirah Valley in Khyber Division during which, Brigadier Shahryar Qureshi and member of National Assembly Iqbal Afridi laid floral wreath on martyrs’ monument,
The attendees prayed for the prosperity and development of the country while they also expressed resolution to participate in making Pakistan successful.
Defence and Martyrs Day event at Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Stadium, Peshawar
In Peshawar, main function in connection with the Defence and Martyrs Day is in progress at Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Stadium Peshawar.
Corps Commander Peshawar Lt. General Nazir Ahmed Butt is chief guest on the occasion.
Contingents of Armoured Corps, Infantry, Air Defence, Frontier Constabulary and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police are participating in the event.
Different kinds of weapons have been put on display.
It was on this day in 1965 that the Indian forces crossed international border in the darkness of night to attack Pakistan but ever-vigilant armed forces, solidly backed by the nation, foiled nefarious designs of the enemy.
