Haris refuted the claim of rejecting his objections regarding Zias statement.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Accountability court has approved ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s plea seeking exemption from the hearing of Al-Azizia reference on Thursday.

During the proceedings headed by Justice Arshad Malik, the decision of Islamabad High Court (IHC) over change Joint Investigation Team (JIT) head Wajid Zia’s statement was discussed.

Meanwhile, Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris refuted the claim of rejecting his objections regarding Zia’s statement.

Earlier, IHC had disposed of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif’s petition and directed to make objections raised by Khawaja Haris part of the proceedings’ record.

Kh Haris—Sharif’s lawyer—during hearing argued one part of Wajid Zia’s statement was slashed from the record whereas an additional sentence was added on behalf of Wajid Zia, star prosecution witness. Haris added, “If hearing continues to proceed in such manner, what would happen in the comings stages”.

To this, Justice Athar MinAllah remarked that they were present there and would make trial transparent.

Kh Harif argued notification of his objection wasn’t enough, stating court was bound to announce verdict on the objection on the occasion. To this, Justice Mohsin replied the authority to announce verdict on any objection rests with the court. Haris said the procedure was court’s practice but not a law.
