ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The interior ministry has issued a clarification regarding the issuance of a fake notification about the public holidays on Eidul Azha.

The fake notification made rounds on social media Thursday after amending the date of issuance to August 16 and increasing the number of holidays.

Purported to have been signed by Mirza Khalid Mahmood, Deputy Secretary, Law II, it said: “It is notified for general information that 21st to 24th August 2018, (Tuesday to Friday) shall be public holidays on the occasion of Religious Festival of Eid-ul-Azha.

“The above press release may kindly be published in all major English and Urdu dailies both in national and regional levels and also be given wide publicity through electronic media.”

The ministry said no new notification has been issued on Eid holidays. The government has announced three holidays on the occasion of Eidul Azha, it added.
