Summary First round of ongoing talks between interior secretaries of Pakistan and India ended on Monday.
The interior secretaries of Pakistan and India finalised the agenda for ministerial level talks at the end of the first round of a two-day talks on Monday.“The talks were extremely positive. Progress was made in the right direction,” Indian Home Secretary GK Pillai said after the meeting in New Delh. The ministerial level talks are expected in July this year.Earlier, the first round of talks between secretaries ended on a positive note. Interior Secretary Qamaruzzaman Chaudhry led the Pakistani delegation and his counterpart GK Pillai headed the Indian side in the talks.The talks focused around several issues including terrorism, narcotics, visa issues and Mumbai terror attack. The talks between both the countries were suspended after November 2008 attacks in Mumbai. It is expected that India will demand immediate action against the accused of Mumbai terror attack.Pakistan will seek the permission of Pakistani commission’s visit to India to talk Ajmal Kasab and Indian investigators. Pakistan will also raise the issue of Samjhota Express tragedy.
