LAHORE (Dunya News) – A huge sinkhole that emerged after heavy rainfall near General Post Office (GPO) on Mall Road exposed the tall claims of developmental work in Lahore.

The authorities called heavy machinery which tried to fill the sinkhole on second day and assured that the road will soon be back to its normal situation.

Dunya News discovered the facts behind the appearance of sinkhole on the main thoroughfare of the city.

As per details garnered, no survey of Orange Line Train’s underground track was conducted while poor quality material was used for the contruction of the road.

The road was opened for heavy traffic after constructing the road without closing the pipes and securing the pillars of Orange Train. Taking hasty action, the pipes were left open at the time of road excavation and were not linked with other lines to clear the road for traffic.

An inquiry team is currently working over the incident and will present the report soon to the authorities.
