National Assembly stands dissolved on completion of its five years constitutional term.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Assembly stands dissolved at 12:00midnight after completing its five-year constitutional term following which the caretaker set up will take the reins of Pakistan for the next two months, Dunya News reported.

Justice (retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk will assume the charge of caretaker prime minister today (Friday). President Mamnoon Hussain will administer oath to Justice (retd) Mulk who will then run country’s affairs.

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs issued a notification with regard to dissolution of the current National Assembly.

"In pursuance of Article 52 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the National Assembly shall stand dissolved on the expiration of its term of five years on the 31st day of May, 2018," read the notification.

On the other hand, the provincial assemblies of Balochistan and Punjab are also dissolved after completion of their five-year term at 12am tonight.
