Nawaz says elected PM laid foundation of nuclear Pakistan

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif on Monday once again reiterated that he had been ousted [from premiership) over not withdrawing salary from his son.

The supremo was addressing a ceremony here in Lahore today held to commemorate the historic day [28th of May, 1998] when country conducted nuclear tests.

Giving staunch reply over treason allegations, Sharif stated he would have amassed USD 5 billion in his pocket if he had been a traitor. “[I] replied to Indian leaders that Pakistan was as powerful as was India. Had we not conducted nuclear tests, Indian premier would not have travelled to Pakistan on bus”, asserted Nawaz.

“I directed Dr. AQ Khan and Dr. Samar Mubarak to prepare the ground for nuclear tests. [I] pushed the button soon after arrangements had been finalized and made country a nuclear power. This task was not accomplished by a dictator, rather by an elected prime minister”, Nawaz apprised attendants.

Sharif went on to say that it was Pakistan’s right to carry out the nuclear tests after India’s nuclear tests.
