Gen (r) Durrani summoned to GHQ over controversial book
Several topics in the book are contrary to the facts
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Army on Friday expressed concern over former spy chief General (r) Asad Durrani’s recently released book ‘The Spy Chronicles: RAW, ISI and the Illusion of Peace’.
Soruces privy to the security said that Pakistan Army has summoned General (r) Asad Durrani General Headquarters (GHQ) seeking an explanation.
Army has expressed reservations over some of the claims made by the former ISI chief in the book, while the several topics in the book are contrary to the facts.
Lt Gen Asad Durrani, Retired being called in GHQ on 28th May 18. Will be asked to explain his position on views attributed to him in book ‘Spy Chronicles’. Attribution taken as violation of Military Code of Conduct applicable on all serving and retired military personnel.

Earlier, former Senate chairman and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader Mian Raza Rabbani had said that if any politician had co-authored the kind of book being launched in India written by the former interlligence chiefs’ of Pakistan and India, he or she would have been labelled as a traitor.
The PPP leader asked whether General Durrani had taken permission from the government or his institution before authoring such a book.
Later, Senate chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, meanwhile, directed the Ministry of Defence to submit its report on the book.
Meanwhile, ex-PM Nawaz Sharif said that an emergency meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) should be held over a book written by two top ex-spies of India and Pakistan.
Sharif had said that the content of the book should be discussed at the NSC meeting, implying that it should be treated just the way the NSC met after his statement on the 2008 Mumbai terror attack.
He said that former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Asad Durrani, through the book, had made public some classified information.
Durrani authored the book jointly with A.S. Dulat, a former head of the Indian Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).
The book which has been styled as a conversation between two spymasters covers a wide range of subjects including NSA Ajit Doval’s way of functioning, the Kashmir issue and several thorny issues between India and Pakistan including Kulbhushan Jadhav, Balochistan and surgical strikes.
