Ex-CJP Manhandling Case: SC reserves verdict
Khalid Ranjha, the counsel of former IG Iftikhar Hussain sought unconditional apology
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday reserved verdict in a suo motu case pertaining to manhandling of former chief justice supreme court Iftikhar Chaudhry.
A five-member larger bench of the apex court headed by acting Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa was conducting hearing of suo motu case pertaining to manhandling of ex-CJP Iftikhar Chaudhry against officials.
During the proceedings, Khalid Ranjha, the counsel of former IG Iftikhar Hussain sought unconditional apology.
Justice Azmat Saeed asked if the court was bound to accept the apology.
Justice Khosa questioned how it can be assumed that it is based on facts, adding that the court is yet to figure out why this treatment was meted out to a chief justice.
The defense lawyer said that his client has submitted an unconditional apology in court and left himself at the mercy of the court
The court then reserved the verdict and ordered all the accused to be present in court when the judgement is read out.
